Every day, I will try to write at least 50 words per day about my daily lives. Students who are also interested to read and find out more are also strongly encouraged to write and articulate their thoughts.
To start off, here’s the stories which were told to the P1 and P2 during A-story-a-day session. These stories would also be published at the end of the year.
First story written by DK, and recited by RN.
**start of story**
Good afternoon school, I am from Primary 2D. Today, the story I am reading is about being kind and considerate to animals.
One day, on my way home from school, I heard a sound coming from behind. I went over to check and I saw a cat. It was hurt and there was blood on its leg. I brought it home and cleaned its leg. Then I applied some medicine and bandaged it.
I saw there was a name and telephone number on the tag worn on its collar. After giving some milk to the dog, I tried to call the number. A girl answered and sounded very excited when she realised that I found her cat.
Soon after, the doorbell rang and the girl came to pick up her cat.
I was happy that I had done a good deed.
**end of story**
This is the second story, written and retold by R from my class.
**start of story**
Good afternoon school, I am from Primary 2D. Today, the story I am reading is about setting targets to challenge ourselves, and never give up.
I started Kumon Mathematics in 2006. In fact, I attended a level lower than my actual age. My brother did better than I. I had to take a longer time than him to complete one level to the next level.
To do that, I set a target for myself and decided to work towards it. I wanted very much to get my bronze medal by 2008. To achieve my goal, I did extra worksheets everyday for the entire year. It was very tiring because I had to cope with my daily school work. However, I have never thought of giving up.
Sometime in June 2008, my Kumon teacher told me some happy news. She informed me that I had finally made it to the bronze medal. When I was there for the award ceremony, I was very excited. At the moment where I received the award with my hands, I was feeling very happy with myself. I was proud of my achievement and it was the same with my parents.
From that moment, I know that we should never give up and should always aim towards excellence. The road to excellence is tough but survivors will overcome all obstacles to reach their goals. This is too in line with one of our school core values – that is: Aim for excellence
- Set targets to challenge oneself
- Strive for the best in all that one does
- Take pride in one’s work
Thank you for listening and I hope we can all work towards this goal!
**end of story**
With these two stories and one more coming from PL, I hope the rest of the class can feel motivated and start writing more stories!
Cheers
